About Me Well, where do I start? I think I shall start with my name - Brad Miller. I am a 21 year old Australian born citizen living on the Gold Coast. 20 minutes drive has me parked in front of one of the best beaches the world has to offer, and 20 minutes in the other direction, has me at the top of the Great Dividing Range overlooking the panoramic views of the beach in one direction, rainforest one way, and dry desolate crops in the other. For those of you who have no idea what I am talking about, or where I am located, and only know Sydney, Australia, I am about a 10hr drive north of Sydney, or 90 minute plane trip. Do I have a missus / partner / spouse / fiancé / wife ? No, and I usually don't. I find it impossible to consider the fact I have to settle down for long periods of time with one person, and its a fact I just cannot handle. ExoticCarSite ExoticCarSite.com Started out as a hobby for me back in 2002 when I was doing a Diploma of Business Management in the city of Brisbane. Bored with my life, my education, and everything around me, I decided to take it upon myself to start up a car website showcasing to the world my collection of cars I had, and could share. The site was created out of the lack of car pictures that were already online at that time. Back then, all there was in terms of auto related car websites, was Supercars.net, Fast-Autos.net [in which I used to be a moderator on the very first forum there], SuperCarSite.net and DieselStation.com [UltimateCarPage.com may have been around then, but I don't recall ever visiting it, and it wasn't until 2005 when I discovered SeriousWheels.com & RsportsCars.com] ExoticCarSite Goals & Objectives Well, here is a simple story about how I managed to set up my goals for ExoticCarSite. The guy who runs SuperCarSite.net inspired me to create ExoticCarSite. His rudeness, poor behaviour, and lacking of social skills was my goal for ExoticCarSite. That goal was what I hear you ask? Simply to beat his crappy SuperCarSite.net website. In an email for a link exchange request with him, and several other car websites that were online at the time, I sent out a link exchange request to all of them, saying hi etc, blah blah blah. I woke up the next morning to have a reply from him, saying some not very nice things, and how he decided to take it upon himself to email everyone on the list about how they too should all boycott my Link Exchange and treat me like shit. So, after this ordeal, I made it my goal, to beat his sorry SuperCarSite.net ass. There I was, a complete nobody, with no understanding of HTML, PHP, ASP, C++ etc [and I still don't lol, but that's another story...] up against one of the largest car websites on the internet. Every couple of days I'd update the website in between my studies, add my pictures, and publish them online at ExoticCarSite.com. Six months passed by, and guess what? My goal to beat SuperCarSite in ranks was complete. Well, I thought to myself, that was a synch, and onto my next task I set.... to achieve 1,000,000 visitors by the end of that year.... again, mission complete :) And now you ask, what are my goals? Hmmmmmm, that's a secret, I don't want my competition to find out what I'm currently trying to target and do ;) Why ExoticCarSite.com? For the fact that all the good domain names were taken, I also targeted SuperCarSite.net by having a similar name to make things fair for this comparison test of being able to beat that website. lol. I figured if I had similar website URL's, it'd be a better comparison for which website is better, and since he had all the vast website knowledge of HTML etc, and I knew nothing, it'd be great to be the under achiever and out do the website I had set as my goal. Where Do I see myself in 1 years time? Hopefully right here :) Continually updating the website, hopefully into PHP, and perhaps even running another car website or 2 in the near future ;) If not, I will have sold ExoticCarSite and all its pages and content to some lucky future owner, who an properly SEO the site and market it well, to yield a return in earnings much higher than what I currently receive. Many people believe I should be earning much more, up to 3 times the amount I do, for this website, and its traffic statistics, but because of a poor layout, and a webmaster / owner [ that'd be me :) ] who doesn't know anything about websites, the site is unable to rank well and perform such tasks, which I believe is a great shame for all the hours I have put into it. If I do sell up, it will be for a down payment on a house, or something worthy. I don't want the time I have spent running this site to be wasted on something that isn't worth having. |
