The 2003 Boxster S is the most powerful Porsche roadster to ever take to the road. Its technical specification and all-round performance represent the essence of the Porsche philosophy.
By the time it reaches 6200 rpm, there's a full 260 hp at your disposal. Maximum torque of 228 lb-ft provides eager acceleration from 4600 rpm. From a standing start, you reach 62 mph in a breathtaking 5.7 seconds. With the right track conditions, you can continue your run to a top speed of 164 mph.
This exceptional performance is achieved using a water-cooled flat six and a range of innovative technologies, such as four-valve heads, VarioCam variable valve timing, and a powerful engine management system. Immediate benefits include dynamic power delivery and throttle response, as well as optimum cylinder charging and much smoother running characteristics.
Drive is transmitted through a six-speed manual gearbox designed for maximum precision and control. For added convenience, there's the option of Tiptronic S, which features both automatic and manual modes.
The McPherson-strut suspension has been specially upgraded for a more engaging and manageable ride. The braking system is based around four-piston monobloc fixed calipers in lightweight aluminium with a distinctive red paint finish. These are combined with four internally vented and cross-drilled discs to deliver rapid and effortless braking response. A special ventilation system enhances the resilience of the system, particularly under heavy use. The new standard wheel design - is the Boxster S II - . Optional equipment on the Boxster S includes Porsche Stability Management (PSM) for even greater dynamic control.
Extensive modifications to the front of the car include a revised air inlet design. The new Boxster hood, which opens in just 12 seconds flat, now mirrors the elegant lines of the optional aluminium hardtop. The rear screen is made of glass instead of plastic and is heated for greater visibility.
Inside the car, the already exceptional cockpit ergonomics have been improved to create a more natural and relaxing driving environment. All controls are designed around the driver for easier and more intuitive operation. New interior features include a lockable glove compartment, a double cupholder, a modified central air vent, plus a leather finish on the steering wheel in your chosen interior colour. For added peace of mind, the Porsche alarm system includes an interior surveillance function. Both luggage compartments can also be opened using a button on the key remote. |
